Meet Emily

Emily Ladd, LSW- Psychotherapist

Hi! I’m Emily, I’m looking forward to meeting you!

Experiencing trauma can feel like time has been stopped in the past, and parts of ourselves have been left behind. Our nervous systems replay these moments over and over again. Our minds create stories to make sense of these experiences. This is our body and mind trying to keep us safe, protecting us, so that we never have to feel that way again.

Often these stories and feelings keep us locked in the past, not allowing us to grow, grieve, feel, evolve, or heal. This may show up as anxiety, numbness, anger, irritability, disconnection from others, and our selves. These symptoms are not you. Remember that. These feelings and reactions are not your fault. You are doing the best you can in every moment, even if it doesn’t feel like it. Together, we will work to heal these parts of yourself, and bring your whole self into the present, so that you can feel capable, connected, safe in your own body, and known, both by others, but most importantly, by yourself.

My Approach:

Together, we will go back to these stuck moments and feelings that live in your body. But this time you will not be alone. This time, you will have control. You will decide when to say “Yes” and when to say “No”. You will be listened to. You will be respected. Creating this safe container together will allow the parts of yourself that have been caught in the past to live in the present, and finally close these painful chapters of your life.

Using trauma-focused therapy modalities, such as EMDR, internal parts work, and somatic work, I will be a guide on your journey of re-discovery and healing. You are already whole, and you always have been. We will tap into your innate wisdom, your bodies knowing, listening closely, and allow it to show us the path back to wholeness.

Fee: $150/ 50 minute session

A little about me:

I am LGBTQ+ affirming and Neurodivergent affirming. My work is heavily influenced by a systems and social justice lens. It is important to me how your identities shape your experiences, and how similarities and differences in our identities shape our therapeutic relationship.

My work as a therapist is shaped by my own journey. I have struggled with complex PTSD and navigating the world with undiagnosed ADHD for most of my life. My personal healing journey has been largely influenced by my travels and the experiences and people I met along the way. These experiences have shaped the way I see the word today. With my own therapists over the years, I have connected most with EMDR, parts work, and somatic work. I am an advocate of the use of psychedelics in the healing process and have my own personal experiences of healing work through the use of psychedelics.

I am a wanderer and a free spirit, based out of Durango, CO. I live and work from my van, traveling around with my little dog (Jamon), soaking up Colorado’s beautiful nature. I spend much of my free time rock climbing, exploring, dancing, running, seeing live music, and reading. I am happiest when barefoot, outside, surrounded by friends, connected with the earth, and moving my body.
